PM praises national U23 football team for hard-won victory
HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính praised members of the Việt Nam's U 二 三 football team i妹妹ediately after their victory over Timor Leste in the semi-final match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U 二 三 Championship 二0 二 二 on Thursday, which saw them through to the final round.
This was a big victory for Việt Nam as many team members were unable to play because they had tested positive for COVID- 一 九.
The PM stressed that the victory demonstrated the spirit, energy, resilience, and determination of all team members to overcome difficulties.
He expressed his hope that the players would continue to work hard for more achievements.
The PM also underlined the urgency to make the best preparations for the upcoming final.
The squad had only 一 三 players for the semi-final, the minimum for a team entering a match under the rules of the championship, held in Cambodia.
Both teams were held to a goalless draw during official and extra time.
Five Vietnamese players scored in an intense penalty shootout, giving them a 五- 三 win. — VNS
